The challenges and opportunities for the design of the Assisi Garden focused on creating a visually stimulating, spiritually inspired, sustainable, and functional space that allows for a variety of programming within the narrow, interstitial space between a multi-level parking structure and new patient tower. Our design softens and buffers the canyon-like void to create a pedestrian-scaled space. The result is a garden that is beautiful and serene at the pedestrian level that also has a strong visual focal point from any level of the adjacent patient tower or parking structure.
