Levee Bike Path

Reich Landscape Architecture, in association with Perez, APC, worked with the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, and the City of Baton Rouge Public Works Department to develop a levee top master plan for recreation, jogging, and bicycling. Public meetings with LSU officials, neighborhood groups, and stakeholders addressed any potential concerns for public safety, and welfare. The 2.5 mile stretch of the levee bike path extends from one end of the downtown promenade just north of the I-10 Mississippi River Bridge to Skip Bertman Drive at LSU. The 15 foot wide path provides a unique place to exercise with great views of the Mississippi River. Features include seperate lanes for bicycles and walkers/ joggers as well as lighting, seating and water fountains. Reich worked closely with USACE to ensure all engineering constraints for construction on levees were addressed.
